Casting Is Key

Most of us have heard stories about famous actors who have turned down film roles that would become legendary. Ever wonder what it would have been like if George Lucas had cast Christopher Walken as Han Solo and Sally Field as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars movie? George Raft, a character actor for Warner Brothers studios in the 1930s and 40s, ius probably best remembered today for turning down roles that Humphrey Bogart would make famous. Casting a film is the one of the most important aspects of preparation one can do. Recently Pat McCorkle sat down with NPR's Scott Simon to talk about her 25 years as a casting director for film and television, and gave some insight into what constitutes good casting decisions.
