CFP Screening Room This Saturday with Movieoke!!

The Community Film Project will be holding the latest in their series of Screening Room events this Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the AFA Gallery at 514 Lackawanna Avenue, Scranton. The event will start at 7:30 pm and there is a three dollar admission.

In addition to a program of short films produced by local filmmakers, the CFP is proud to present the regional premier of Movieoke! Already an underground sensation in New York City, movioke events are starting to be held in other cities around the country.

What’s movieoke you ask? Movieoke has been described as “Karaoke for movie lovers.” Participants act out a favorite movie scene while it is being projected on a screen behind them. If anyone forgets their lines, they can quick turn around and check the subtitles on the screen behind them. It is a bit like a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but anyone can act out any scene from any movie from All The President’s Men to Zoolander.

Individuals or groups can participate providing they bring a DVD of their film. Costumes and props are not required, but can certainly add to the fun.
