On Saturday May 20 at 10 AM, the Greater Scranton Film Office (310 Spruce St, Suite 302) will host a casting call for a film that will be shot in July 2006--in the Scranton area. The film is written and directed by Scranton native Matt Weiss. Matt is a recent college graduate who will be directing his first feature-length film. This project will be either no pay or deferred pay.

Note that the city of Scranton will play host to a Veterans Day Parade beginning at 11 AM on Saturday. The parade may cause some traffic congestion, so please take that into consideration as you make plans to attend the audition.

The CFP Board recently heard about this project; thus we haven’t had the opportunity to review this project with the director and producers. We are passing on this audition notice as a service to our members. If you attend the audition be sure to tell the casting director that you heard about this audition from CFP!

Although not required, actors are encouraged to bring headshots and resumes. Please review the following character descriptions to get a sense of what types of characters the director has visualized. Please don’t rule yourself out if you aren’t a perfect match! Delivering on the essence of character is typically more important than possessing the exact physical embodiment of the character.

ALLEN STERN – 22 in age, is 6’2” in height, slender in build. He is Jewish-looking (dark features, perhaps larger nose), has a dark olive complexion, dark brown eyes, and short brown hair. His character is anxious by nature. He is unsure of himself, but once he feels comfortable with a situation he will relax. He is the type of person who will not peak until he finds success after graduating from college. He is not as religious as he once was, but has never been involved with a girl who was not Jewish.

ABHILASHA SHAW – 23 in age, 5’3” in height, tight bodied, petite. She is of Indian descent with dark skin and twinkling, light brown eyes. She is breathtakingly beautiful with thick, straight black hair that falls past her shoulders. She is driven and highly motivated. She was one of the popular girls in high school, but always nice to people, genuine, not fake. Her family is traditional and strict.

LEON KING – 25 in age, 6’4” in height, muscular yet toned. He is African-American, relatively handsome, but physically daunting. He has the letters K.I.L.L. tattooed across each of his fingers on his right hand. He is emotionally exhausted, but not angry. He keeps his cool in times of stress, but yearns to leave the area where he resides and is willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish his object. His moral ambiguity allows him to step outsides the confines of the law.

PURVISH PATEL - 23 in age, 5’11” in height, thin yet cut abdomen. He is an Indian male with dark skin, short, black, gelled hair. He has thin sideburns that stop at half-way down his ear. He has dark menacing eyes that pierce through anyone he glares at. Underneath his general malaise and discontent lies seething hatred for most things. His entitlement makes him feel superior to all of his peers. His has explosive moments of rage and violence.

ELI BROWN – 21 in age, 5’10” in height, thin in build. He has short, gelled, and spiked hair. He is a nondescript prep school clone. He is a cocky, arrogant snob. He has an addictive personality (likes drugs).

RICK - 30 in age, 6” in height, built like a linebacker with broad shoulders. He is a Caucasian male, with long curly hair, scruffy facial hair, and a beer gut. He is the convenient store employee. He is the type of person that had nothing to do on Christmas Night, so he worked at the store. He is not willing to die for his job when he is confronted with danger.

WAITER – 40 in age, 5’5” in height. He is of Chinese descent with pitch black hair. He has a thick Chinese accent.

SAMARA SCHWARTZ – 23 in age, 5’7” in height, great body, large chest. She is half Italian, half Jewish with dark, tan skin, and thick, dark hair. She is extremely wealthy and loves to flaunt it. She has always received everything she ever wanted. She loves throwing parties. She is vain, but not mean. She honestly wants people to enjoy themselves at her party.

RANDOLPH MILLER – 23 in age, 5’5” in height, broad shoulders, but has a beer gut. He is extremely tan, resembling someone of Hispanic origin, but is actually Jewish. He has long curly hair that he has tied in a pony tail. He is cynical about his home area and wishes to leave. He is intelligent and capable yet smug and somewhat arrogant.

WINONA – 23 in age, 5’6” in height, thin, African-American girl. She has long, thin dreadlocks for hair. She is sweet, but shallow.

CARYN – 23 in age, 5’9” in height, skinny, Caucasian girl. She has long blond hair, green eyes, and pale skin. She wears glasses, but still looks pretty. She is shallow and fake.

JENNY – 23 in age, 5’7” in height, good body. She is a pretty, blond, nondescript, vanilla American.

KELLY – 23 in age, 5’7” in height, good body. She is a red head with freckles.

JOHNNY ROMERO – 21 in age, 5’10” in height, toned body. He has gelled, spiked hair. He can be any ethnicity. He is cocky and arrogant. He loves cocaine.

STACY – 20 in age, 5’8” in height, sexy body, blond hair. She is a coke-fiend yet confident.

NANCY – 20 in age, 5’8” in height, sexy body, blond hair. She is also a coke-fiend yet confident.

ERIC – 25 in age, 6’1” in height, slender and lanky. He is an African-American male with a shaved head. He has the letters K.I.L.L. tattooed across the fingers on his right hand. He is jittery and anxious. He likes to ponder the meaning of life. Unlike Leon, Eric was not made for the gangster life, but goes along anyway.

SEAN – 28 in age, 5’10” in height, African-American, muscular and toned physique, shaved head. He is a cold blooded gangster-type.

CHRIS – 28 in age, 5’8” in height, African-American, fat and round body structure, short hair. He is an ice-cold gangster who murders people often.

DAVID MUNNY – 50 in age, 5’10” in height, thin body-type, graying hair. He is impatient and rude. He has a sense of entitlement on account of his profession as a lawyer. He speaks down to minorities.

LEWIS – 23 in age, 5’10” in height, thin build, young looking, African-American.

TIM – 23 in age in age, 5’10” in height, muscular and toned, young looking, African-American.
