Scranton Tomorrow, a non-profit organization in the City of Scranton has announced another economic development project - the establishment of the Greater Scranton Film Office. Its responsibilities will include: Location scouting for qualified production companies; Service and support to production companies; Establishing a library of photographs of available sites within the region; Coordinate site visits from film production companies; Cultivate industry-wide contacts designed to promote and market the region; Coordinate with the region’s Economic Development Offices & Tourism Offices to attract film production individuals and businesses to the area

Scranton Tomorrow will manage the day-to-day operations of The Greater Scranton Film Office by providing office space, equipment, staff and supplies.

The Greater Scranton Film Office will be the fourth in the state, with the Cities of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Lancaster being the other three. The economic impact from film and television productions may capture up to 35% of the production’s budget. Recent figures for FY 2003 and FY 2004 indicate the State of Pennsylvania has acquired $328,000,000 dollars in economic development from film and television production projects.

The Greater Scranton Film Office is another example of Scranton Tomorrow’s commitment to remain dedicated to the continued renaissance of downtown Scranton.

A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27^th, 12 noon at the Endless Mountains Theaters on Route #6, Dickson City.
