NEPA Organizing Center Sponsoring “Media and Social Change”

Art Show and Film Festival Event
Saturday June 7th

The NEPA Organizing Center and the Media Mobilizing Project of NEPA will sponsor “Media and Social Change” on Saturday, June 7th, beginning at 1 p.m. The event will be held at the newly opened center, located at 198 S. Main St in Wilkes-Barre.

The daylong multimedia event will feature the work of Philadelphia based artist Patrick Grugan (www.gruganarts.net) and a series of documentary films. The feature presentation will be a 6 p.m. viewing of “Broke in Boom Times”, a Skylight Pictures (www.skylightpictures.com) production that provides a glimpse into the development of a national movement dedicated to ending poverty in the United States. A discussion and open house will follow the presentation.

The Northeastern PA Organizing Center provides the opportunity and space for residents, organizations, and local leaders to build a unified network dedicated to:
* educating each other about the condition of our communities and the lives of our people
* developing an expanding base of community leadership
* building an organization that addresses the needs of our residents, friends and families.
* working in support with other networks across Pennsylvania and the United States

The Media Mobilizing Project (MMP) exists to unleash the powerful combination of communications, media making and organizing in order to clarify issues in our community, document lived human realities, and act as a tool to inspire and unite those who have a vested interested in change.
