Casting Call: "History of Pennsylvania"
Film producer Andrew Kenneth Gay and writer/director Ryan Pomeranz will be holding auditions on October 29, at the Greater Scranton Film Office, for their latest film collaboration, "History of Pennsylvania." This will be the pair's third film this year. Their last two films, "Love is Deaf" and "On Being Your Average Joe," both completed in June, are currently playing film festivals across the country, including the Sacramento Film & Music Festival, the Paste Rock 'N' Reel Festival (Georgia), the Ohio Independent Film Festival, the Deep Ellum Film Festival (Texas), and the Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase (Florida).
"History of Pennsylvania" is a short film about a teenage girl and her mother on a road trip in search of the girl's biological father. While on the trip, the girl must write a history essay for school, mirroring the internal exploration of her own genetic history. The parts of the girl and her mother have already been cast with actors from Florida. However, in an effort to stay authentic to the local character of Scranton, the filmmakers would like to cast the parts of the father and grandmother with Pennsylvania talent.

"Don" – a genius in his 50s who never lived up to his potential, he now lives with his elderly mother.
"Don's mother" – a kindly woman in her 70s, she lives in the past and views the world through rose colored glasses, never accepting the failure her son has become.
"History of Pennsylvania" is being made as a coproduction between Candle Fish Pictures LLC, 45 Year Old Productions, and the University of Central Florida School of Film & Digital Media, all based in Orlando, FL. Once completed, the film will be aggressively marketed to film festivals around the world, offering participants an incredible opportunity for exposure.
