5th Annual Black Bear Film Festival this weekend in Milford
Here is just a reminder that the 5th Annual Black Bear Film Festival is this weekend Friday, October 15 through Sunday the 17th. Located in the small Pocono Mountains town of Milford in Pike County, the festival features a variety of small art house films and documentaries with special invited guests including director Jordan Roberts, who will be screening his new film Around the Bend (which stars Michael Caine and Christopher Walken) and Lackawaxen screenwriter Ken Vose who co-wrote the 1977 Richard Pryor film Greased Lightening which will screen Sunday evening. Another Sunday night treat will be the screening of the silent film The Upheaval (1916) starring Lionel Barrymore which was partly shot at the nearby Twin Lakes. There will be live piano accompaniment for the screening.
Also of interest at the festival is the Film Salon series, which features free screenings of short films shot by both regional high school and college students and professional film makers as well as seminars on screenwriting (featuring Hook (1991) screenwriter Malia Scotch Marmo), production design (Kalina Ivanov, Silence of the Lambs (1991)) and how to finance your film (Jose Martinez, Jr. entertainment & corporate attorney, co-founder of Arthouse Films).
